Chorionic Villus sampling (CVS) is a prenatal diagnosis technique to determine chromosomal abnormalities or genetic disorders in the fetus during pregnancy. Chorionic villi are tiny finger like projections found in the placenta .CVS is usually done between 11-13 weeks 6 Days of pregnancy.

Indications of CVS
 Advanced Maternal Age
 Family history of a specific genetic condition /partner being a carrier of a genetic conditions.
 Abnormalities in Ultrasound
 Increased Nuchal translucency
 Positive result from prenatal screening test
 Carrier of a Chromosomal Translocation
CVS is carried out under the continuous guidance of an ultrasound scan.
